Departure from Húsafell/Glacier edge

This is one of Iceland’s most unique tours. Allowing you to explore around, on and within Langjökull glacier, Iceland’s second largest glacier. This tour gives you an unforgettable experience in the ice cap glacial environment as you drive from the glacier edge in a monster 8 wheel drive glacier truck. An English speaking driver/guide is included as well as a guided tour within the ice cave.

Please note that departure location is seasonal and the timing alters. A shuttle transfer from Húsafell to the glacier edge costs extra but is recommended. If you depart from the glacier edge you must arrive 20 minutes prior to departure.

Warm clothing is mandatory, regardless of season.

Recommended clothing and equipment:                                                                                                       Base and mid layer clothing, waterproof and warm coat, hat and gloves, waterproof shoes and warm socks, sunglasses.

Heli Ice Cave

Departure from Reykjavík Airport

A once in a lifetime experience. Leaving from Reykjavík domestic airport you will get to see the capital from air before landing in the hot spring area of Hengill volcano. From there you fly over Þingvellir National Park and Skjaldbreiður shield volcano featuring a perfect conic shape and crater. The final stop is on Langjökull glacier after witnessing the amazing  view over the ice cap with its deep crevasses and steep ice falls. There you enjoy a guided tour in the ice cave before flying back to Reykjavík.

If the weather doesn’t permit landing on the glacier, you’ll board the 8 wheel drive monster glacier truck and head for a half hour ride over the ice cap towards the ice cave entrance.

Warm clothing is mandatory, regardless of season.

Frozen West Super Jeep Tour

Kaldidalur – Húsafell – Hraunfossar – Deildartunguhver – Langjökull

This day begins with a drive on the dramatic highland road leading to the bleak and haunted Kaldidalur valley and Langjökull glacier. Once we reach Langjökull glacier, the second largest in Iceland you will have the chance to explore an ice cave reaching deep within this spectacular ice cap glacier. Here you will witness amazing blue ice formations and being deep inside the ice cave is simply a magical moment. After the Ice cave we have Icelandic meat soup at Húsafell. Then we drive towards Borgarfjörður and the magical waterfall Hraunfossar, a series of enchanting lava waterfalls and beautiful though tragic cascades of Barnafoss. Iceland´s literary heritage and the magnificent sagas, which calls for a short visit to historic Reykholt, the home of Iceland’s greatest saga writer, Snorri Sturluson.

From Reykholt we begin the return journey to Reykjavík via Deildartunguhver, Europe’s most powerful geothermal spring. After all the geo-power the tour continues to Hvalfjörður, Whale Fjord, with its small whale factory and remains of World War II British
installations before we reach Reykjavik in the late afternoon

Please bring warm clothes, a camera and some snacks for the ride. The driver will be stopping at service stations should you wish to purchase something there.

Ice Cave Vatnajökull

This is the perfect tour for those interested in natural ice caves. Travelling with an experienced guide to the most amazing ice cave possible at the time. Ice caves are chosen based on conditions and safety evaluations. Duration of the tour also depends on conditions and vary from 2-4 hours.

Warm clothing mandatory

Good hiking shoes and warm clothing essential. Crampons and helmets are provided. Also possible to rent hiking shoes/boots, but please contact us regarding that.

Fagurhólsmýri – 1/2 hour east of Skaftafell and 1/2 hour west Jökulsárlón in southeast Iceland.
