From Gullfoss we drive up to the mighty Langjökull glacier where you have the option of adding a one-hour snowmobile ride (Must be booked in advance).

We drive down from the glacier to the thermal landscape of the iconic Geysir with the erupting hot springs.

Geysir is quiet these days but neighbouring Strokkur will not disappoint and is guaranteed to send a spout of boiling water high into the air.

Onward to Þingvellir National Park, the site of the World’s oldest parliament which first met in the summer of 930 AD.

The entrance to Þingvellir is a walk through the Almannagjá gorge, where there are visible evidence of plate tectonic activity on the European-American fault-line which still today is pushing the two continents apart and creating Iceland, geology’s youngest country.

This day is all about the South coast and it´s unique sights. Beautiful water falls, like the impressive Seljalandsfoss, where the brave can walk behind the cascade, not to forget the powerful Skógafoss which carries water from Eyjafjallajokull and Mýrdalsjokull.

When we leave the main road you need to deflate then tires. Then you will drive mountain tracks to Gígjökull, a glacier tongue from Eyjafjallajökull. This is were the flood came bursting down when the eruption started.

The black volcano beaches of the south leave no one untouched with panoramic views over the Atlantic ocean on one side and glaciers on the other.

Sights like Dyrhólaey is quite impressive, on the black beaches you have view over this little island.

You start this day after a good breakfast driving to Jökulsarlón glacier lagoon and Skaftafell. On this day we would also do a glacier hike in the afternoon. This route is one of the most beautiful routes in Iceland, with fields of lava and surreal mountain scape.

This amazing lagoon is unique and a great place for photo-shooting. The main lagoon measures about 7 square miles (20 km2) and until 1932 was covered in thick glacial ice. Then the glacier started to retreat, and nowadays more than 300 feet (100 m) of ice breaks away each year to reshape the lagoon and fill it with huge spectacular icebergs.

We drive through spectacular fjords and visit some of the charming fishing villages of the South-East as we head to the capital of east Iceland, Egilsstaðir.
